Goose Valley Golf Club Estate was developed in 1994, on land belonging to Gary Player. And is the only residential Top Ranked Golf Course in Plettenburg Bay in the heart of The Garden Route - the most diverse of the world’s six floral kingdoms.
The Estate boasts magnificent Cape Fybos vegetation, Swallows who have chosen to spend up to 6 months of the year plus an abundance of Peacocks, who seem to enjoy joining guests in - Alfresco dining.
The Estate is irrigated from the nearby Ganz River which meanders through the grounds, and is near the Keurbooms Estuary for fishing, swimming and boating.

Original people in this area were called Khoikhoi (meaning Ferns) It was originally a European settlement and famous for The Millwood Gold rush in the 1830’s. Also for the high mountain Ranges and extremely deep georges plus the Yellow Wood forests and timber industry.
The dangerous Heads comprises two rock heads, which form the entrance to a beautiful sandy Lagoon. In the past the Knysna Lagoon was used as a historical and military harbour.

Looking for the entire world like a stubby finger pointing south, is The Robberg Peninsular – Marine protected area.
It is a surprise to find a place of such serene natural beauty, within a relatively built up zone along The Garden Route of Western South Africa.
You’ll find intriguing rock pools, seals and unspoilt coastal Fynbos. Shown here are Strelitzia flowers, which grow in abundance.
Plettenberg Bay (Beacon Island), The Western Cape South Africa. Sold.
The original people of Plettenberg Bay, were Khorisan (Hottentots and Bushmen) who were named by the early Portuguese
Explorers and the original settlers were stock farmers and hunters. Plettenburg Bay was named by The Dutch East Indian Company in 1776. By the 1830’s it was a stopping point for ships heading for India.
It then became a famous Whaling Station on Beacon Island, which was closed in 1916, and a Hotel was built on the old site.
a) The Orange Breasted Songbird
These Orange Breasted Songbirds are most dependent on Fynbos flowers and vegetation.
Shown here is a Mimetes Hirtus plants and a Proteaceae Compata Flower.
In fact the King Proteaceae called Cynaroides which is the official flower of South Africa. The South Africian Cricket Team is called the Proteaceae.
b) The Cape Weaver Bird
The male is polygamous and builds a kidney shaped nest for each female. He flutters his wings at the entrance to the nest for the females inspection, but if she is not ready or willing to mate, he will dismantle it. When the female accepts the nest - she builds the lining and lays her eggs.
Shown here are two types
a) Ploceus Capensis Weaver and b) Masked Weaver Ploceusoelatus.
The tree was outside my bedroom window and I watched these busy little fellow’s daily. They also joined us on our balcony for breakfast each morning. Their main predators are Tree Snakes and Hawks.
Both pastels are 22 ins deep x 16 ins wide, mounted and framed and both are sold.
